The International UFO Research Laboratory, the only institute in Japan dedicated to the study of unidentified flying objects, was established in Fukushima on World UFO Day, June 24.

The research facility is located in the UFO Interactive Hall, which displays UFO-related items in Fukushima City. This is an institute specializing in discovering the mystery of unidentified flying objects. The institute’s director is Takeharu Mikami, editor-in-chief of Occult magazine. In addition to receiving online research, the International UFO Research Laboratory will analyze and investigate eyewitness accounts.

According to the UFO Interactive Hall and many other sources, in the 1970s, a glowing cone-shaped flying object appeared near Mount Senganmori in Fukushima’s Iinomachi district, causing a stir in the community. After many reports of UFOs, this area was dubbed the “homeland of UFOs”. In 1992, the UFO Interactive Hall was born with a collection of about 3,000 related documents donated by the late UFO researcher Kinichi Arai.

Last year, the US Department of Defense released videos of UFOs recorded by the US Navy. The international community’s growing interest in this topic has prompted the UFO Interactive Hall to open a research laboratory to bring these strange objects to light.

The research facility’s activities include collecting, analyzing and identifying UFO information provided by eyewitnesses around the world. “Up to now, even when UFOs are discovered, information has only been shared at the individual level. I hope the research room will act as a platform for receiving information, leading to new discoveries,” Director Mikami said.
