According to UEFA’s latest data, Cristiano Ronaldo hit a remarkable top speed of 32.7 km/h at Euro 2024. While this figure doesn’t place him among the top 100 fastest players of the tournament, it’s an impressive feat for someone nearing the age of 40.
What makes this achievement even more striking is that this speed surpasses any he’s recorded at previous tournaments, marking a new personal best. Since UEFA began tracking player speeds in 2012, Ronaldo had never reached this velocity. At Euro 2012, his peak speed was 32 km/h, and he clocked speeds of 29.1 km/h and 29.7 km/h at Euro 2016 and Euro 2020, respectively. Ronaldo’s enduring speed and agility at Euro 2024 underscores his exceptional fitness and dedication, even as he approaches a milestone birthday.

In Euro 2024, Ronaldo has not scored after 2 important games. In the match against the Czech Republic, the 1985-born superstar had the chance to become the oldest player to score at the EURO, when he dribbled the ball past the goalkeeper.
However, CR7 chose to pass horizontally to his former Man Utd teammate, Bruno Fernandes, to score into an empty goal.
Ronaldo rejected the opportunity to score but still achieved another remarkable record. He is the player with the most assists in the EURO (8 times), equaling the achievement of former Czech player Karel Poborsky.
“I think Cristiano Ronaldo has never been selfish. At that moment he decided to pass the ball. If he had shot straight, it would have been a completely correct decision. “Ronaldo is the top scorer, but when he has the opportunity he always knows how to make the best decision for the team,” said Bruno Fernandes about the captain.
During the press conference prior to the final match of the group stage against Georgia at 2:00 a.m. tomorrow (June 27), coach Roberto Martínez confirmed that Ronaldo will continue to start: “Cristiano will start tomorrow. Ronaldo is very important for us. He has just had an impressive season and is used to playing every game. Therefore, forcing Ronaldo to rest is inappropriate at this time.”
