Alla Morozova, the compassionate owner of a shelter in Novosibirsk, Russia, has seen many animals come and go, but Maru, a wonderful Bullmastiff, was special. Adopted by a couple when she was just five months old, Maru’s life seemed set for happiness. Sadly, six months later, Alla received a distressing phone call from the couple, who cited animal allergies and expressed their need to return Maru to the shelter.

“I never abandon my dogs, and when they adopt one, it is specified that the owners must contact me if they can no longer have it,” Alla said.

Given the situation, it was decided to put Maru on a train back to the shelter and an assistant offered to take care of him, but after approximately 125 miles of travel (201 km), the train stopped at a station near Achinsk and the dog ran away. The Siberian Times reports.

Maru was afraid because the people she trusted the most had abandoned her and the train was too loud.

He jumped into the compartment, kicked the handle and nearly knocked the driver out of his way.

No one could keep her, so Maru’s manager immediately called the couple to report her absence, and they contacted Alla, who asked them to look for her in the Achinsk region, but they both refused.

The couple seemed careless, as if the dog was no longer their responsibility.

It is assumed that Maru walked from the station to the industrial sector of Krasnoyarsk.

Alla, for her part, chose to spread information about Maru through brochures and social media.

The dog was discovered two and a half days later in an industrial district of Krasnoyarsk, trying to reach the house where she had been rejected; She was bruised and fatigued, with “tears in her eyes,” according to her rescuers.

He had to walk through the Russian wilderness, ravaged by brown bears and wolves. It’s amazing that he survived and has such a strong sense of belonging.

Alla stated: “Geographically I had no point of reference. “She wandered alone in the city courtyard and never went anywhere else.”

Maru was tired and lame, and her legs, paws, and lips were injured. Before being recovered, she had fallen from a train embankment.

If she had not been hurt, the noble dog would have undoubtedly returned to the area she called home.

Maru is now receiving therapy to overcome his trauma with his original parents at the Novosibirsk shelter and is also receiving care for his injuries.
