Carlo Ancelotti recently opened up about his time coaching Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo, reflecting on their two-year stint together from 2013 to 2015.
In a recent interview on The Obi One podcast, Ancelotti shared his thoughts on working with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, saying (via @MadridXtra on X): “Coaching Cristiano Ronaldo? It was very easy. When you have a player who scores in every game, it’s a breeze (laughs).”
Further praising the 39-year-old forward, Ancelotti remarked (via @TeamCRonaldo on X): “What Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved in his career is truly extraordinary, something almost beyond belief.”
Ronaldo arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu in 2009 after six years at Manchester United. The Portugal captain is Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer, with 451 goals and 13 assists in 438 appearances across all competitions.
During his nine years with Los Blancos, Ronaldo also won three La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys, two Supercopas de España, four UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups and three FIFA Club World Cups. He also won four of his five Ballons d’Or (2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017) during his time with the Spanish giants.
Cristiano Ronaldo, reflecting on the possibility of a return to Real Madrid, said: “Real Madrid will always have a special place in my heart. My journey there was extraordinary and full of unforgettable moments. Who knows what the future holds? But for now, I am focused on new challenges.”
On the possibility of Ronaldo returning to wear the Real Madrid shirt in the future, Ancelotti said: “Cristiano is a legend at Real Madrid and will always be welcome here. Although he is focused on new challenges now, the doors of the club will always be open to him. If the opportunity arises and he wishes to return, it would be a great honour for us to have him back.”
With these statements, both Ancelotti and Ronaldo have left fans speculating about a possible return of the Portuguese star to the Santiago Bernabéu, rekindling fans’ hopes of seeing the legendary striker wearing the Real Madrid shirt again.
